Hearing Protection & Earplugs

by | 19 May 2021 | Hearing Devices, Hearing Protection, News

Noosa Hearing can make custom earplugs for hearing protection and designed to fit your unique ears – from musician’s earplugs to noise and swim plugs. Swim plugs are especially useful for those with grommets or perforations.

Hearing protection is important

Loud noises can permanently damage the hearing system and cause a noise induced hearing loss. Protection is therefore an important part of hearing health. Noosa Hearing can provide custom noise plugs to significantly reduce the noise to safe levels, whilst being comfortable in the ear.

Types of earplugs

  • Musician’s ear plugs

For musicians, sound crew, DJ’s, bands or orchestras.  These filtered ear plugs reduce sounds by up to 25 decibels while preserving the natural sound quality of the music.

  • Noise plugs

Industrial protection for any worker exposed to loud industrial noises, such as construction workers or heavy equipment operators. These earplugs can protect workers’ hearing by reducing dangerously loud noises by up to 25 decibels.

  • Swim plugs

Water protection is ideal for swimmers or surfers who have a history of ear infections or have a perforated eardrum and need to keep water out of the ear canal.

Taking the impressions for ear plugs

The Audiologist will perform three steps:

  1. Otoscopic ear examination. Ear canals must be clear so that impressions can be made.
  2. Insertion of a small piece of foam into the ear.
  3. Introduction of impression material into the ear.

The impression material sets within a few minutes and is then removed from the ear. This impression will be used to make your custom-made ear plugs.

The whole process takes about 15 minutes and is completely painless. To order your custom made hearing plugs contact Noosa Hearing today or make an appointment here.
